Articles::Week 6 Useful Waiver Pickups (October 11, 2006)

Here are some players that may still be available on the waiver wire that you can pickup and use to solidify your team.

1. J.P. Losman, QB, Buffalo Bills
Even though he had a poor game last week, he did play against the Bears and Matt Hasselbeck didn't look much better against that defense the week before. Losman has been playing well for the most part this year and he matches up nicely against the porous Lions pass defense this week.

2. Leon Washington, RB, New York Jets
We recommended him last week and he's still available in a good percentage of leagues. He has emerged as the starting running back for the Jets and even though the Jets couldn't score against the Jags last week, he still had a great day. If you are in need of a running back, don't hesitate to pick him up.

3. Bryant Johnson, WR, Arizona Cardinals
He may not be a great start this week since the Cardinals are playing the Bears but he may provide some wide receiver depth for the next few weeks. If you are a Larry Fitzgerald owner, you should definitely grab him since Fitzgerald may be out for up to 5 weeks with his injury. Johnson can definitely step in for many teams and give you reasonable wide receiver help especially with all the bye weeks coming up.

4. Alex Smith, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Smith's numbers tend to be up and down but if your tight end is on a bye week, he can fill in nicely. Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski will need a reliable target to help him continue to get acclimated with the Tampa Bay offense and Smith should definitely be a big target for him in the next few weeks.

5. Bruce Gradkowski, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Speaking of Gradkowski, he may be worth taking a flyer on if you have some roster room and need a quarterback. He showed great poise in his week 5 start and passed for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. He has a tough game this week but he may be worth stashing for the future.
