Articles::Week 4 Useful Waiver Pickups (September 25, 2006)

Here are some players that may still be available on the waiver wire that you can pickup and use this week if you've already run into injury issues.

1. Charlie Frye, QB, Cleveland Browns
Frye has been steadily improving over the last 3 weeks and put up impressive numbers against a stout Baltimore Ravens defense in Week 3. He ended up with 298 yards and a touchdown and was effective in spreading the ball around to Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. If you need Quarterback help this week, Frye is a great option going up against the Oakland Raiders.

2. Maurice Morris, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Shaun Alexander is out indefinitely with a foot injury which puts Morris into the starting role. In cleanup duty, Morris has looked more than solid. Even the last few years when the Seahawks had locked up their playoff position, Morris would start in place of Alexander and put up great numbers. If you own Alexander, you definitely have to get Morris and if you don't own Alexander and are lucky enough to get Morris, you will have a new Running Back on your team that you can start almost every week.

3. Greg Jennings, WR, Green Bay Packers
The rookie Wide Receiver is quickly becoming a great target for Brett Favre. In Week 3, he had 101 yards receiving and he has had a touchdown catch the last 2 weeks. With the Packers throwing the ball so often, Jennings will have the opportunity to develop into a useful fantasy option as the season progresses. Keep an eye on him as he may put up great numbers this year.

4. Eric Johnson, TE, San Francisco 49ers
Rookie Tight End Vernon Davis broke a bone in his leg in Sunday's game against the Eagles and is expected to miss at least 4 weeks of action with the injury. After Davis left the game, Johnson stepped in and had a team high 7 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. If you can grab him, Johnson is definitely worth adding in all leagues.

5. Cleveland Browns, DST
The Browns may not be the best fantasy defense but if you run into bye week troubles this week, they can be a pretty decent starting option. They held their own in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens and have a game against the offensively inept Oakland Raiders this week. The Browns are capable of holding the Raiders under 17 points and may possibly create a few turnovers.
